POEM: 'Pretty As A Song'
You’re as pretty as a song
I wrote a long time ago.
The melody hummed by those in love,
The lyrics quoted wrong.
Pianos hammered keys for you
Violas scream and sigh
I hear it as lovers pass by
And smile at its signature.
I send the tune to you
So far away (so close)
And hope you’ll sing along
If I send the real words too.
